DRS 2020 Conference

Virtual Trip Down Under

The DRS2020 Virtual Conference was originally planned to take place at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia but was forced to migrate online due to the global coronavirus pandemic. The conference was a unique experience, as one of the first design conferences to be held in such a manner, bringing together 3 major Keynotes, 143 Papers, 22 Conversations, 30 Workshops and a PG Day, including multiple events hosted by DRS Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

DRS Inclusive Design SIG discussion

The conference theme was Synergy which explored design research as a driver for creating transformative change for good, through collaboration and co-creation. Synergy is a powerful force where voices in design research become stronger together. Sessions covered a range of topics including design transitions, mobility, health and co-creation.

Presenting at 2am for DRS2020 Postgraduate Research ‘Day’

The Inclusionaries Lab members Farnaz and Cara both attended the conference to present their latest research around inclusive paediatric mobility design and design for end of life.

As part of the SIG in Global Health, Cara was involved in the creation of ‘The Little Book of Global Health Design & Covid-19’ which explores how the design research community is tackling Covid-19 across different parts of the world and then presents eight case studies to illustrate different ways in which design research is addressing some of the challenges posed by Covid-19 to our individual lifestyles and society.
